Three Recreational Activities at Chatfield State Park

Posted: March, 31, 2021 | Categories: Events

You’ll find countless reasons to relocate to or within Colorado, but homebuyers always have one thing in common: They want to spend more time outside.

Adventurous spirits love Denver, a city with abundant days of sunshine and quick access to the incredible Rocky Mountains. Hikers, bikers, runners, skiers, snowshoers, and boaters alike can enjoy nature and protected wildlife in more than 40 state parks and 300 state wildlife areas!

Lucky for you, Shea Homes builds master-planned communities to cultivate one-of-a-kind experiences with the outdoors.

Residents at Solstice enjoy Colorado’s distinct four seasons with access to the 71-mile long High Line Canal Trail — not to mention proximity to Chatfield Lake and State Park. Outdoor enthusiasts can’t wait to buy and build their new home and are ready to raise families that appreciate and love engaging with nature.

Planning a wintry day trip to Chatfield State Park or getting ready for a warm summer spent by the waters of Chatfield Lake? Continue reading to discover three exciting recreational activities.

Camping
Camping at Chatfield Lake is absolutely ideal for novice campers or young families — all 197 campsites have electrical hookups and many feature full hookups (water, sewer and electric), which means you’ll have access to modern must-haves! Even better? State park facilities include flush toilets, showers, laundry, and a sanitary waste station — because there’s nothing better than a nice hot shower after a winter hike and setting up your tent.

If you find it a little chilly for sleeping under the stars right now, camping is available year-round — allowing you to escape to nature on a long weekend whenever your heart desires.

Dog Off-Leash Area
While all of Chatfield State Park is dog-friendly, you do still have to keep Fido on a leash in the majority of areas. The designated Off-Leash Area is the perfect place to take a restless pup as we stay indoors more often! With 69 acres of completely fenced open space for your dogs, they’ll definitely burn off all that extra energy. Enjoy quality bonding time together and relish a good walk on paved and unpaved trails.

Horseback Riding
It’s never too early to get your little ones in the saddle at Chatfield Stables, where equestrian enthusiasts can enjoy horseback riding, birthday parties, and horse camps at one convenient location. Their exciting Pony Pals program even lets your kids socialize with other young horse aficionados! Just imagine riding alongside your family through 24 miles of winding paths and reveling in the cool air and winter sunshine. Colorado horsemanship will also teach them values such as perseverance and gentleness.

Our advice: Don’t let the cold keep you from getting the lay of the land at Chatfield State Park! Unplugging and venturing outside can benefit your family time and your solo adventures.
