Tighten up those laces and get ready to walk for a fantastic cause. To raise awareness and funds for improvements to the 71-mile High Line Canal — like planting new trees — the High Line Canal Conservancy presents the Walk for the Canal event. Shea Homes® Colorado is proud to be a sponsor of this inaugural event. Weaving through the Solstice™ community, the High Line is just steps from home when you live in the neighborhood. Once used as an irrigation channel, the High Line Canal has become a much-loved trail in the Denver metro area for decades. To protect and preserve this unique waterway, the High Line Canal Conservancy — along with dedicated citizens and advocates — are excited to reimagine the canal as a 71-mile-long park meant for exercise, quiet reflection, and environmental education. Coloradans can enjoy this unique opportunity to meet and connect with fellow fans of the canal — while practicing social distancing — and challenging themselves to get moving in the months to come. Nestled along the canal, you’ll also find quick access to the Chatfield stables, local campsites, and many acres of open space situated only a few minutes from your gorgeous new home at Solstice.
Starting August 1 and ending October 10, participants can pledge to walk, bike, jog, or run in order to join in the outdoor fun. Based on your family’s activity level and busy schedule, you can choose to recreate along the canal, around your neighborhood, or anywhere you choose in order to achieve your goals. You’ll have 71 days to enjoy the gorgeous summer weather and reconnect with Colorado’s famous wildlife and scenery.
You can help safeguard the future of the canal by spreading the word and participating in this fun event. When you sign up, you’ll receive a one-of-a-kind orange High Line Canal bandana plus other prizes — such as branded fanny packs and water bottles — to help you stay on track during your challenge.
