Edwin and Megan had looked at Solstice once before, back when it was still an empty field. After years, two houses, and one move to Arizona later, they finally found their way back to the High Line, this time ready to put down roots with their daughter Emerson.
When did you move to Solstice, and where were you living before?
We closed on June 11th and moved in June 12th, 2026. Before that, we were living in Mesa, Arizona, though we used to live in The Canyons in Castle Pines from 2020 to 2024. We actually looked at Solstice back in 2020, but nothing was built yet. Since Edwin and I both work remotely, we didn’t need to be close to the highway, and the views here don’t compare to anywhere else we looked.
What was it like looking for a home with Emerson in mind?
This is our third house in two and a half years, so we wanted to make sure she had her own space this time. We have a huge basement, and her bedroom has its own bathroom. Staying in the Douglas County school district mattered to us, and we wanted to be close to her activities outside the neighborhood, like dance and gymnastics. Emerson is 8, and she already loves the pool and the kids’ events, especially the tie-dye craft last week.
How have you taken to life at Solstice so far?
It’s still early, but we’ve been going to events at the High Line House to meet new neighbors. We’re taking full advantage of how close we are to the mountains. We love to hike Roxborough and Waterton Canyon, and Evergreen is close enough to visit the lake too. We’ve even ridden bikes to Chatfield.
What are you most looking forward to at Solstice?
As our part of the neighborhood keeps developing, we’re excited to meet more neighbors, watch the kids play together while the parents hang out, and keep exploring everything the community has to offer.
Is there anything else you can share about building with Shea?
The entire home buying process was easy. Shea’s quality and attention to detail stood out immediately. The house was spotless, and we never had to worry that anything was being hidden or cut corners taken. That wasn’t our experience with our builder in Mesa, and it’s a big reason we chose to build with Shea again, especially buying a home out of state.
