After years of searching for the right fit, Jim and Linda found their next chapter in the open spaces of Solstice. With Linda’s daughter grown and settled in Seattle, they’ve traded busy years for quiet mornings, a yard they love tending, and a home that finally feels like it was built just for them.
When did you move to Solstice?
October 2025.
Where were you living before?
Aurora, in a 55+ community. Before that, Texas.
With your daughter grown and out on her own, what made Solstice feel like the right next step for you two?
Driving out on C-470, Santa Fe seems to disappear once you turn onto Titan Parkway. You get open spaces, wildlife, and the foothills, beautiful all year. It felt like an oasis between the open prairie and Chatfield. We found a lot backing to open space and the High Line Canal, with no one looking down into our yard, and the community planning here is excellent.
How does life here compare to where you were living before?
Solstice has a younger crowd than our last community, but there are plenty of people our age too. The paths are wide with gentle slopes, and the streets and sidewalks are well kept. The construction crews have been considerate of people already living here, and the HOA is responsive and meets every two weeks, so approvals happen quickly. We haven’t had that experience anywhere else.
What does a typical day or weekend look like for you now?
Pretty much to ourselves. We built our house so we could be happy at home. We love working on the landscaping and take a lot of pride in our yard, and we’ve picked back up on hobbies we’ve always enjoyed. We’ve attended a few events at the High Line House and read the newsletter every week to see what’s happening.
Do you have a favorite spot or routine, whether it’s the trail, the lake, or time at the High Line House?
Our house is our favorite spot. We love having the foothills in our backyard. Every day you go outside, you see something different, even the storms rolling in from the foothills or building out on the eastern plains. It’s the entire experience, not just one thing.
